Plans have been leaked over a proposed government bailout of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. While there have been rumors of this for the last few months, apparently it is now quasi official. This is the largest bailout / takeover in US history and a sign the real estate / mortgage market are having unprecedented problems.
